Brent Glass, director emeritus of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, the world’s largest museum devoted to telling the story of America, will give a lecture about his new book “50 Great American Places” at the Atheneum in New Harmony, Indiana, (401 N. Learn about the Hoosier State’s shaky past by visiting the Quake Cottage, an earthquake simulator that provides citizens with a safe yet realistic experience of the intense shaking that can occur during an earthquake. Participants 6 years of age and older can experience the shaking of a 3.0 to 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The Quake Cottage program provides education about the science of earthquakes and disaster preparedness.
