FreeEnjoy New Harmony’s Firefly Festival by hearing from the man who first described Indiana’s state insect, Pyractomena Angulata or Say’s Firefly, in 1826.
Imagine stepping aboard an experimental ship and making a two year journey to study alien life. Thomas Say will begin with the story of his 1819 zoological expedition to the Rocky Mountains, touching on his start in science, malaria on the journey, extinction and finally his move to New Harmony. Once his story is complete, you’ll have a chance to ask Thomas Say some questions yourself!
