Lowry Hollow is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition not to be missed! “Pond Life: New Works by Kristen Holt Burckhartt” opens on June 1, 2-4 p.m.
Kristen Burckhartt graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1993. The following summer, she lived in Paris and much of her work has been influenced by Cézanne, Matisse, Manet and Monet. She still travels annually to France, and cultivates her own garden in a European style.
Pond Life is a series of small paintings inspired by the fish pond in Kristen’s garden in Evansville, Indiana with a nod to Monet’s Water Lilies.” However, while Monet focused on capturing light and reflection, Kristen plays with color, texture and line, as well as realism and fantasy, to create intimate fragments of pond life that do not exist except in imagination.
Lowry Hollow will host a free reception for the artist with light refreshments and beer and wine served in the courtyard. Join us!
