River Days is held right on the Ohio riverfront downtown Mt. Vernon, Indiana. The festival is held to remember the rich historic heritage enjoyed by the Ohio River town, which this year will celebrate its 200th birthday! This year the tradition will continue with family favorite events, entertainment, and of course the scrumptious 40+ food booths.
Friday
Opening ceremonies kick off on Friday afternoon by the American Legion Post #5, followed by a full day of historical demonstrations and displays, various musical entertainment, and the Little Miss and Mister River Day’s pageant that evening.
Saturday
Saturday has a full day of entertainment and historical events along with the mouthwatering Smoke on the Ohio BBQ contest and awards as well as a new event that was added in 2015, the Kids “Q” on the Ohio competition, bike show, pet parade, tractor display, clowns, and the list goes on. Saturday comes to an end with a concert by the local Wolfgang Orchestra and Chorus followed by the ever popular firework display by the local Lions Club.
