Are you brave enough to walk the haunted streets of this intriguing town? When darkness falls, this quaint little town becomes decisively eerie. New Harmony, Indiana, is the site of two Utopian societies and many of its former occupants never left. Join us as we walk the moonlit streets and talk about the history and hauntings that set this town apart. Sometimes, the ghosts even come out to play. Haunted New Harmony Ghost Walks are 90 minutes long.

CHURCH STREET MYSTERIES GHOST WALK

NEW GHOST WALK! We will bring you from Thrall’s Opera House, where the ghosts from the past still linger, all the way down to the abandoned Harmony Way Bridge and all the places in between. Learn about the peculiar haunting at the social club, as well as legends about hidden tunnels beneath the town. This Ghost Walk is 90 minutes long and meets in front of Thrall’s Opera House (612 Church Street, New Harmony, IN)

HISTORIC HAUNTS GHOST WALK

NEW for this year! We’ve revamped our Original Spooky Walk and have added new locations and new stories! This ghost walk leans heavily on the history and provides interesting stories, as well as ghost stories, of course. Learn about the site of the country’s first Kindergarten, as well as the haunting at the old firehouse. This Ghost Walk meets at the corner of Church and Main Streets at the half-round bench

DARK SIDE GHOST WALK

Welcome to the Dark Side! Take a walk with us on the dark side of town where the stories get even more intriguing. Learn about the haunting at the Red Geranium Restaurant and walk through the intriguing Roofless Church at night. We’ll also visit many other locations, including the Harmonist Cemetery and the David Lenz house, where the ghosts just might knock at you. This Ghost Walk meets on the corner of Church and Main Streets (at the rounded stone bench)

Frequently Asked Questions

The path we take is generally level, however, we do walk across a grassy path on our way to a cemetery on our Dark Side Ghost Walk. If you require a golf cart to transport you from location to location, email us at HauntedNewHarmony@gmail.com prior to the walk and we can make sure a golf cart and driver is available. NOTE: We cannot offer golf cart transport for our Church Street Mysteries Ghost Walk (no golf carts are allowed on Church Street).

Is this okay for children? Children under the age of ten probably aren’t going to enjoy our Ghost Walks. We stand around talking far too long, and they often get bored. While we do welcome children on our tours, you should be the judge of whether your child will enjoy it or not. In addition, some of our stories are very scary for youngsters, and some of the topics aren’t necessarily good for young ears.

Are dogs allowed on the tours? Well-behaved dogs on leashes are always welcome on our tour and will get special scritches from our dog-loving tour guides.

How long is the Ghost Walk? We traverse less than a mile. Historic Haunts Ghost Walk is a bit longer than the Dark Side Ghost Walk, but offers more benches along the way. Our Church Street Mysteries Ghost Walk is also under a mile.

What is your refund policy? You can cancel your reservation and receive a refund providing you do so prior to 48 hours before the event. We have to schedule tour guides to do the walks and we often sell out of our events. Anything less than 48 hours doesn’t provide us with the opportunity to alter our scheduling and resell your tickets.

Which Ghost Walk is the scariest? They are both scary. The biggest difference is the locations. Our Historic Haunts Ghost Walk brings us through the historic district and the Dark Side Ghost Walk traverses an area of town that doesn’t have as many street lights. Church Street Mysteries also has quite a few scary stories, but also focuses on the quirky things that have happened in New Harmony.

What happens in inclimate weather? We seldom cancel our Ghost Walks due to rain. We find that it adds to the ambiance (bring an umbrellla), but we understand that not everyone enjoys this. Can I use a golf cart? We always have a golf cart available. If you’d like us to bring one, just email us at HauntedNewHarmony@gmail.com in advance and we’ll have a cart and driver available. NOTE: We can’t offer golf cart transportation for our Church Street Mysteries Ghost Walk (golf carts aren’t allowed on Church Street).
